FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Supervisor Training

Supervisors training is a crucial part of being a good supervisor. Supervisors are in charge of the most important person in the company: their employees. If the supervisor fails to train his or her employees well, they will not know how to handle an emergency or how to work efficiently. They may make poor sales decisions and make poor management decisions that lead to bad employee relations.

Supervisors need supervisor training because they use those skills every day in the workplace. In fact, most workers don't even realize what the supervisor is doing at all times. Supervisors are trained in problem solving skills, time management skills, team building skills, and many other important skills. Yet, they do not utilize these skills. Instead, they are spending their time communicating with people and solving problems. This supervisor training is often done in short, step by step learning sessions, instead of a one-time class.

The problem with this approach is that there are usually only small amounts of lessons in each of these skill areas. For example, in problem solving, there might be a series of lectures on statistics, methods, etc. That is certainly useful, but it would hardly be enough to develop an excellent supervisor training program. There are many different approaches to instruction. One of the best approaches is to combine instruction on different approaches with instruction on how to supervise properly.

Most businesses and companies have developed effective and appropriate strategic plans. These plans should be used in conjunction with continued on-going supervisor training. Supervisors must keep learning as new technologies and methods are discovered. A good way to facilitate continuing learning is to develop a learning and development program for supervisors that is continuously updated and reinforce the skills learned each week. One excellent way to do this is to develop a continual improvement program, which continually provides supervisors with new strategies and techniques to apply in their work environment.

Supervisors have a responsibility to ensure that company employees are efficiently performing their jobs. In this regard, they are also responsible for providing a superior work environment. Supervisors are charged with developing an effective work culture, so that all employees are fully satisfied in their position and are willing to work in the best possible manner. Achieving full workplace productivity requires that supervisors develop a strong supervisor training program that provides individuals with a variety of learning opportunities. A good learning and development program will take into consideration the skills needed by different types of managers and will provide the needed training to supervisors who may be at different stages within their career.

Effective supervisor training will enable supervisors to identify and solve problems and meet the objectives of higher management. Supervisors must be able to identify the skills that are required for them to effectively perform their job duties. Learning must be continuous, and supervisors must be capable of re-assessing their performance from time to time based upon how-to skills that they have developed through their workplace experience.

In the past, the only way to provide supervisors with effective supervisor training was to involve supervisors in lengthy seminars and one-on-one training sessions. But now, there are a number of innovative technologies that allow supervisors to participate in online learning modules through the use of Internet technologies. In addition to providing supervisors with the opportunity to access training modules on the go, online technologies also allow supervisors to take the training home with them. This gives managers the opportunity to review each module, digest it, and then review it again prior to taking it to the workforce for a full-force assessment. With e-learning modules, supervisors can effectively take courses from the comfort of their desk without having to rearrange their daily schedule.

Supervisors can effectively increase their knowledge and skills by being constantly on the lookout for learning opportunities. The key is for them to determine what type of learning opportunities to suit them best-whether this is through live training events, e-learning modules, or a combination of both. By being diligent about obtaining the most up-to-date information, supervisors will be able to maximize the value of their supervisor training, making sure that they meet all of their job expectations.
